Consultation

In March/April 2008 the Community Association conducted a survey amongst local residents to gauge their opinions on the future of the Social Club building and what type of events they would support in any new or refurbished facility.

We distributed over 800 forms through letterboxes, we spent 2 days in the local supermarket speaking to people and encouraging them to complete forms, the local Academy distributed forms amongst all its pupils, and post boxes were set-up in Grants Supermarket, the Post Office and the Highland Council Service Point.

In all 379 responses were received (not including those from people outwith the IV25 postal district) of which 231 (59%) were from women and 148 (41%) were from men.

On the main question regarding the future of the existing Social Club building only 20% were in favour of refurbishment, 54% were in favour of a new facility and the rest (26%) had no preference.

When asked about the type of events and facilities that they would support in a new or refurbished facility, the top six choices were :-

  1. Live Music Concerts (56%)
  2. Film Shows (55%)
  3. Swimming (52%)
  4. Dances (51%)
  5. Ceilidhs (47%)
  6. Gymnasium/Fitness Suite (45%)
